Dutch design is quite often so plain and simple that to the untrained it may seem to be “nothing special”. But to the trained it is just as often “brilliant”. It is brilliant in it’s simplicity and functionality. I decided to create a logo that was witty, just enough and simple. At the same time the logo had to be attention grabbing and work well with a wide variety of designs. The form is the Dutch windmill but so abstract that it can be ignored.

Thanks to its originality and design excellence, the “Logo for Dutch Design week in Madrid” logotype has been selected for the “Best of Nation ‘08” talent award and will be included in the Wolda ‘08 printed annual,
plus an honourable mention on the Wolda website.
